Gittisham Hill Park is a retirement community designed for individuals aged 65 and above, located in a picturesque setting near Honiton in Devon, encompassing 12 acres of beautifully maintained parkland within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This unique location offers a variety of retirement housing options, including one and two-bedroom residences nestled within the scenic grounds.
As a Community Transport and Maintenance Specialist at Retirement Villages Group, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safety and comfort of our residents while upholding the company's dedication to nurturing a sense of community and wellbeing. Your primary duties will involve transporting residents to various locations, including medical appointments, social events, and leisure activities. Additionally, you will be tasked with carrying out general maintenance duties to ensure the upkeep and functionality of our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely drive residents to and from various locations using the company minibus
- Assist residents in boarding and disembarking from the minibus, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times
- Maintain a well-organized schedule to guarantee timely arrivals and departures
- Conduct routine safety inspections on the minibus, reporting any concerns to management
- Ensure the interior of the minibus is clean and free from debris
- Assist with general maintenance tasks such as repairing fixtures, changing lightbulbs, and performing minor repairs
- Help maintain the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of the community's grounds and shared spaces
Essential Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving history
- Prior experience as a driver, ideally within a healthcare or senior living context
- Thorough understanding of traffic laws and safety protocols
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with residents and staff
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations
- Basic skills in maintenance tasks such as changing lightbulbs and performing minor repairs
- Physical capability to lift and carry heavy items and perform manual labor as required
