  • Responsible for generating precise, clear, and comprehensive meteorological and climatic data, primarily for Sailing Directions and Routing Charts utilized by Mariners.
  • Provide meteorological and climatological insights to various teams within the organization.
  • Act as the in-house meteorological authority.
  • Assist in product verification alongside colleagues in the Ocean Environment team.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaboration: Engage with the Met Office and other relevant authorities, utilizing various communication methods. Ensure timely delivery of meteorological and oceanographic data to meet publication schedules, while reviewing materials for accuracy. Collaborate with internal teams as necessary and participate in outreach initiatives to enhance the team's reputation as a premier provider of maritime meteorological data and expertise.

Data Analysis and Presentation: Conduct thorough analysis of data pertinent to team objectives, utilizing research from diverse sources. Identify and report discrepancies in received information. Innovate methods and styles for effectively presenting climate data within publications. Monitor publication timelines and assess data requiring updates, gathering and validating new information to produce it in a usable format.

Development: Cultivate a strong understanding of customer requirements for meteorological data. Provide guidance and support to other editors in developing and reviewing training materials. Design and implement software solutions for data processing to adapt to evolving demands.

Documentation and Quality Assurance: Maintain a comprehensive archive of both raw and processed data in various formats. Review navigation content related to meteorological information. Oversee contracts for data supply from the Met Office, ensuring quality assessments are conducted. Manage the information supply program for meteorological data and ensure thorough documentation of all work processes.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven meteorological and technical expertise.
  • Strong ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and present it in an accessible format for stakeholders.
