Your role will encompass a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: employee relations, talent acquisition, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), negotiations with external agencies, compensation, HR metrics, recruitment, and workplace practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborating with various departments and assisting managers in understanding and applying policies and procedures
- Championing equality and diversity as integral components of the organizational culture
- Engaging with stakeholders involved in policy matters such as performance management and occupational health and safety
- Facilitating recruitment and onboarding processes, which include crafting job descriptions and specifications,
- preparing job postings, reviewing applications, shortlisting candidates, conducting interviews, and selecting applicants, as well as preparing for onboarding, sending welcome communications, conducting orientations, and ensuring a positive Day One experience
- Formulating and executing policies
- Providing guidance on compensation and other remuneration matters, including promotions and benefits
- Conducting regular salary assessments and supporting performance evaluation processes
- Negotiating with employees and their representatives (such as union officials) regarding compensation and working conditions
- Managing payroll and maintaining employee records
- Interpreting and advising on labor laws
- Addressing complex employee relations issues
- Developing HR planning strategies that consider both immediate and long-term needs
- Designing and occasionally delivering training programs, including corporate orientations and short sessions
- Overseeing the complete employee lifecycle for our workforce
- Assessing training requirements in collaboration with departmental leaders
- Strong business acumen and management capabilities
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to comprehend detailed information
- Proficient IT and numerical skills, particularly in managing computerized payroll and benefits systems
- Interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships across all levels
- A proven history of making impactful contributions and leading by example
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate employment law to managers and employees
- Integrity and approachability, ensuring that managers and staff feel comfortable discussing sensitive and confidential matters
- A curious mindset with a willingness to challenge organizational norms when necessary
- Capability to compile and interpret statistical data and present it in a clear and professional manner
- Influencing and negotiation skills to implement personnel policies
- Potential for leadership roles and collaboration with senior management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, utilizing various methods to keep the team informed
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate: the ability to maintain confidentiality professionally; a track record of delivering results, prioritizing tasks, and managing multiple responsibilities under tight deadlines; and the capacity to perform effectively under pressure
