About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Oncologist to join our team at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As an Associate Professor in Oncology and Data Science, you will provide clinical leadership to our Centre for Interdisciplinary Cancer Studies, enhancing cancer research activity across data sciences, biology, genomics, health sciences, and population health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership to the Centre for Interdisciplinary Cancer Studies, driving cancer research activity and collaboration with MSEFT and the University of Essex.
  • Work clinically as a Consultant Oncologist specializing in Lung and Melanoma in the MSEFT Oncology Department.
  • Contribute to the development of cancer research strategies and initiatives, leveraging data to improve patient outcomes and experience.
  • Collaborate with senior clinicians and researchers to advance cancer research and education.
Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register or eligible for entry within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of training (CCT) at time of interview.
  • Evidence of completion of specialist training or equivalent.
  • A higher degree with a MD or PhD.
  • MRCP/FRCR or equivalent.
  • Inclusion on GMC Specialist Register for oncology or within 6 months of attainment at the time of interview.
  • MD or PhD.
  • Evidence of management training.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Formal training in Data Science or experience in collaborative work in Data Science/AI/Machine learning.
