Position Overview

Tech Connect Group is seeking a highly skilled Automation Controls Manager to oversee our controls engineering initiatives. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of automation projects across various sectors.

As the Automation Controls Manager, you will report directly to the Engineering Director and serve as the primary representative for the controls engineering team. Your leadership will be essential in aligning project timelines with the company's commitment to excellence and client satisfaction. You will collaborate closely with project teams, installation crews, and hardware engineers to deliver top-tier, cost-effective automation solutions that meet industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate expertise in interpreting client and regulatory specifications to ensure that designs meet project expectations.
  • Assist the Engineering Director with managing project modifications related to controls.
  • Review and approve Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Hardware Design Specifications (HDS), and Software Design Specifications (SDS) in accordance with GAMP5 guidelines.
  • Support the controls design team in assessing technical feasibility and ensuring alignment with project architecture.
  • Authorize designs for programmable systems, including PLCs, HMIs, robotic systems, safety mechanisms, drive systems, vision systems, and SCADA, ensuring compliance with design specifications and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate resource planning with project management and engineering leadership, establishing tailored milestones for controls systems to maintain project design status.
  • Collaborate on the creation of Controls RFQs, technical evaluations, commissioning plans, and FAT specifications, while contributing to the Automation Summary tracker.
  • Champion the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies and methodologies to enhance the company's digital transformation initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in machine development, demonstrating progressive skill and responsibility.
  • At least 2 years of experience in leading engineering teams across multiple projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various control systems and technologies, with a strong understanding of leading manufacturers such as Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff, ABB, and Cognex.
  • Proven experience in the manufacturing and assembly of automation processes, supported by a solid engineering background in automation.
