The ideal candidate will possess a robust research portfolio in Energy Materials and articulate a visionary plan for a sustainable science agenda, leveraging the Department's strengths and the unique collaborative opportunities available.

Role Responsibilities: This position will play a crucial role in the new "Advanced Materials for the Energy Transition" (AMET) Taught MPhil Programme, a collaborative initiative with the Departments of Physics and Chemistry. The successful applicant will primarily engage in teaching and administrative duties related to co-directing the AMET Taught MPhil, including:

  • Course management
  • Student admissions
  • Lecture creation and delivery
  • Examination responsibilities
  • Project supervision

We anticipate enrolling 20-30 students in this innovative MPhil programme.

A passion for teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels is essential, along with a willingness to contribute to broader academic activities within the Department and the School of Physical Sciences.

Compensation: The starting salary will be determined based on the level of appointment, with Assistant Professorships ranging from £45,585 to £57,696 per annum and Associate Professorships from £61,198 to £64,914 per annum.

Diversity and Inclusion: We strongly encourage applications from women and candidates from underrepresented backgrounds, as they are currently less represented at this level within our institution. The University is committed to evaluating research based on its merits, not solely on publication venues.

Application Requirements: Interested candidates should submit:

  1. A research proposal (maximum 3 pages) detailing how their research aligns with departmental activities.
  2. A two-page statement outlining their teaching philosophy and contributions to the AMET Taught Masters.
  3. A one-page statement addressing their vision for enhancing research culture and promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a departmental visit, including research and teaching presentations, informal discussions, and formal interviews.

The University actively promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion, welcoming applications from all segments of society.

All candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
