Position Overview: We are in search of a remarkable early-career researcher to spearhead an innovative experimental initiative in the realm of Energy Materials Physics. Our program is dedicated to advancing the physics that can revolutionize global energy generation, storage, and utilization.
Research Focus: The foundational work in this area emphasizes the exploration of novel physical mechanisms, materials, and experimental methodologies that can harness the potential of energy materials. Current research endeavors at our institution encompass a wide array of topics including photovoltaics, light-emitting diodes, energy storage systems, photocatalysis, thermoelectric phenomena, plasmonics, superconductivity, and spintronics.
Candidate Profile: We invite applications from outstanding individuals whose research aligns with the field of Energy Materials, broadly defined. Potential areas of interest may include advanced characterization techniques for energy materials, the investigation of innovative physical concepts in energy conversion, and the development of new strategies to minimize energy consumption in data processing and storage.
Teaching Responsibilities: The successful candidate will contribute to our newly established 'Advanced Materials for the Energy Transition' MPhil Program, collaborating with the Departments of Materials Science and Chemistry. Responsibilities will include course management, student admissions, lecture delivery, examination processes, and project supervision. The program anticipates enrolling a cohort of students in the near future.
Qualifications: Applicants should possess an undergraduate degree and a PhD in Physics or a related discipline, along with a strong record of relevant research. Evidence of enthusiasm and capability to teach a diverse range of physics courses at both undergraduate and master's levels is essential.
Application Process: Interested candidates are required to submit the following materials:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV);
- A comprehensive list of publications, highlighting up to five significant contributions;
- A research proposal not exceeding three pages, including a brief description of how the research aligns with existing departmental activities;
- A one-page statement detailing the candidate's teaching philosophy and contributions to the department's educational programs;
- Contact information for three referees.
Diversity and Inclusion: We particularly encourage applications from women and candidates from underrepresented backgrounds in our department. Our institution is committed to fostering equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of our community.
Eligibility: The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
