Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Band 5 Clinical Nurse Specialist: RNLD / RNC / RMN to join our esteemed organization. This role presents an excellent opportunity for newly qualified nurses to embark on a rewarding career path.

The successful candidate will be part of a team that provides essential overnight respite services for children with learning disabilities, complex behaviors, and/or intricate health requirements. While prior experience in supporting children with learning disabilities in a healthcare environment is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite. We are committed to delivering high-quality, child-centered care, and we expect our team members to embody this ethos.

Key Responsibilities

The selected individual will be responsible for:

  • Leading nursing shifts effectively
  • Managing a designated caseload with named nurse responsibilities
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals to assess and develop treatment plans for individual children
  • Formulating and executing care plans and risk assessments in partnership with parents and caregivers
  • Overseeing the operational admission and discharge processes for children
  • Ensuring that staff under supervision are competent and have access to individualized care plans
  • Administering medications in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation
  • Preparing reports for reviews and meetings as necessary
  • Liaising with parents, caregivers, and other professionals
  • Training and performing clinical procedures such as PEG/NG feeding, oxygen therapy, and monitoring vital signs
  • Identifying personal learning needs and pursuing professional development
  • Ensuring compliance with NMC guidance, CQC standards, and organizational policies
  • Adhering to infection control, health and safety, and fire regulations
  • Occasionally working at alternative locations to meet service demands
  • Attending and documenting meetings as required
