Role Overview

As a Nurture Mentor, you'll play a vital role in supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within our college community. Your primary responsibility will be to provide tailored support and guidance to help these children overcome challenges, develop coping strategies, and achieve their educational and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build positive relationships with students, understanding their individual needs and challenges.
  • Provide one-on-one support and mentorship to children with SEMH and ASD, both academically and emotionally.
  • Implement personalized strategies and interventions to support students' social and emotional development.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each child's care and education.
  • Foster a safe and nurturing environment where students feel valued, respected, and supported.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children with complex needs, particularly SEMH and ASD, ideally within a school or educational setting.
  • Experience supporting young adults and post 16.
  • A compassionate and empathetic nature, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
  • Patient, resilient, and a positive attitude towards supporting children facing challenges.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in areas such as Special Education, Child Development, Psychology, or Counselling would be advantageous.
