About the Institution: Situated in St Helens, this institution provides a nurturing and progressive educational atmosphere for 200 students facing severe learning challenges, autism spectrum conditions (ASC), profound and multiple learning difficulties, as well as sensory and complex needs. The school emphasizes a child-focused methodology, celebrating every milestone, regardless of its size, and aims to promote independence among its students as they transition into adulthood.

Position Overview: The institution is in search of a committed and understanding Learning Support Assistant to become part of their enthusiastic team on a full-time basis. In this capacity, you will play a vital role in establishing a secure and supportive atmosphere where students can flourish. Your work will involve close collaboration with pupils, fostering strong connections that enhance their emotional and educational growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored assistance to students with diverse complex needs, facilitating their full engagement in educational activities.
  • Help in executing personalized learning strategies and contribute to recognizing each student’s unique strengths and capabilities.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive educational setting where students feel appreciated and supported.
  • Collaborate with educators, families, and a multi-disciplinary team, including healthcare professionals, therapists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
  • Encourage and acknowledge students' progress, regardless of how minor, and assist them in developing skills for greater independence.
  • Guide students in their journey towards adulthood, equipping them with the confidence and self-sufficiency needed for the next stages of their lives.

Candidate Profile:

  • A kind-hearted and patient individual with a sincere enthusiasm for working with children with special educational needs.
  • The capability to forge strong, trusting relationships with students, cultivating a supportive environment for their growth.
  • Experience in a comparable role or in assisting children with severe learning difficulties, ASC, or complex needs is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional communication abilities and the capacity to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • A dedication to the institution's values of recognizing individual achievements and fostering independence.

All stated pay rates will include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position is temporary, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role in the future.
