We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Repairs Officer to join our Housing Operations team at Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council. As a key member of our Direct Labour Organisation (DLO), you will be responsible for providing a seamless and proactive repairs service to our residents.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day delivery of the repairs and maintenance service, ensuring high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
- Lead and manage an internal trade team and repairs contractors, driving performance and productivity to achieve and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Provide specifications of complex works, manage and coordinate works, and ensure deadlines are met.
- Deal directly with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and industry best practices.
- Offer expert technical advice and support to residents, often on complex or multifaceted repairs and maintenance enquiries.
- Hold an RICS accredited surveying degree or a minimum HNC standard, with a NEBOSH Certificate or similar in Health and Safety.
- Have significant experience in building repairs and solutions, with a thorough understanding of current legislation concerning building works, including CDM and Health and Safety.
- Demonstrate a good technical knowledge of housing properties and their building and service components.
- Have experience in housing responsive repairs, including working in a customer service organisation.
- Have working knowledge of Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, Landlord and Tenant law, and relevant forms of building contracts and modern methods of procurement.
- Be able to prepare and present data and KPI reports, and have experience in budget and financial planning of a large service area.
- Have excellent organisation, time management, and prioritisation skills, with experience of supervising a team.
- Have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a good level of IT proficiency.
