The Opportunity: Senior Design Manager

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Design Manager to join our team and contribute to Network Rail's North-West & Central Enhancements Framework and Access for All schemes. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of rail infrastructure across multiple regions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the entire design process, from conception to completion, ensuring all designs meet project requirements and specifications.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and contractors, to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Oversee the preparation of comprehensive design documentation, guaranteeing compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Proactively manage design-related risks, identifying potential issues and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain strong communication channels with Network Rail and other stakeholders, fostering collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and support to the design team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Ensure all design activities are delivered within budget and adhere to established timelines.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline is essential.
  • Professional membership with a recognized institution (e.g., ICE, MIET, IEE, IMechE) is required.
  • Extensive experience in design management within the rail infrastructure sector is crucial.
  • A proven track record of managing large-scale projects on Network Rail infrastructure is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant design standards, regulations, and best practices is essential.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are required to effectively manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure is essential.
