Position Overview

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Altus Partners is collaborating with a prominent Private Equity-backed retail organization to identify a dynamic and experienced Senior Financial Operations Manager. This role is essential as the company seeks to enhance its financial leadership framework.

This strategic hire will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer, providing the successful candidate with comprehensive ownership and the autonomy to lead, refine, and elevate the Group Controls function.

The organization currently generates revenues of £240 million and maintains a robust EBITDA. This position is based at the company’s headquarters.

The Senior Financial Operations Manager will play a crucial role in executing the business's value enhancement strategy and preparing for a potential exit in the near future.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a Private Equity-backed or multi-location setting, although those with a strong background in financial management and team leadership within a fast-paced, high-growth environment will also be considered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly reporting to the CFO, you will deliver essential financial reporting and insights that drive the company’s growth trajectory.
  • Prepare monthly reports and presentations for Private Equity stakeholders.
  • Lead a team of 22 professionals, including 5 direct reports, providing ongoing support, mentorship, and development of your leadership team.
  • Oversee the leadership and growth of specific teams including Payables, Receivables, Financial/Management Accounting, Tax, and Treasury.
  • Manage the month-end closing process and consolidation of the group’s multiple entities.
  • Supervise the Statutory Accounting and Year-End processes across all entities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance reporting cycles and management accounts.
  • Oversee cash flow management and maintain strong relationships with banking partners.
  • Continuously utilize and enhance the accounting ERP system to improve internal processes.
  • Ensure compliance with both Direct and Indirect Tax obligations and deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Qualified Accountant (an audit background is preferred but not mandatory).
  • Demonstrated experience as a Financial Controller, with a proven ability to develop teams and implement process improvements.
  • A commercial mindset towards financial management.
  • Experience in leading Treasury and Tax functions is advantageous.
  • Experience in Private Equity or multi-site operations is beneficial but not essential.
  • This role offers hybrid working arrangements, requiring on-site presence for part of the week.
