THE OPPORTUNITY:

Altus Partners is engaged in the search for a dynamic and experienced Senior Financial Operations Manager to join a leading retail brand backed by private equity. This role is essential as the organization seeks to enhance its financial leadership framework.

This strategic hire will report directly to the CFO, granting the successful candidate complete ownership and the autonomy necessary to lead, develop, and refine the Group Controls function.

The organization currently generates revenues of £240 million and boasts a robust EBITDA. This position is based at the company's headquarters.

The Senior Financial Operations Manager will play a crucial role in executing the company's value creation strategy and will be instrumental in preparing for a potential exit in the near future.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly reporting to the CFO, you will provide essential financial reporting and insights that drive the business's growth.
  • Prepare monthly reports and presentations for private equity stakeholders.
  • Lead a team of 22 professionals, including 5 direct reports, while offering ongoing support, mentorship, and development opportunities.
  • Oversee the leadership and growth of specific teams, including Payables, Receivables, Financial/Management Accounting, Tax, and Treasury.
  • Manage the month-end closing process and the consolidation of the group's multiple entities.
  • Supervise the statutory accounting and year-end processes for all entities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance reporting cycles and management accounts.
  • Manage cash flow and maintain strong relationships with banking partners.
  • Utilize and enhance the accounting ERP system to improve internal process efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with both direct and indirect tax obligations and deadlines.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Qualified Accountant (audit experience is preferred but not mandatory).
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller, with a history of team development and process improvement.
  • A commercial mindset towards controllership.
  • Experience in leading Treasury and Tax functions is advantageous.
  • Experience in private equity or multi-site operations is a plus but not essential.
  • This role offers hybrid working options, requiring on-site presence three days a week.
