Senior Social Worker/Direct Payment Lead

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Adult Social Care at Hammersmith and Fulham Council. The successful applicant will meet the requirements of the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF) and Knowledge and Skills Statement (KSS Adults) applicable to the role of an Advanced Social Worker.
This is a newly-developed role for a Senior Social Worker, which has been co-produced with key partner agencies and residents with lived experience. A vital focus will be to play a key role in the Council's vision by demonstrating an ongoing commitment to Direct Payments being a key facilitator to independent living.
The role holder will be committed to working to extend opportunities for more people to have a Direct Payment and be instrumental in furthering the Direct Payments Moving Forward Plan, contributing to key priorities and actions. They will be encouraged and supported to develop expert knowledge of Direct Payments, to enable them to develop and grow in the role and support residents to make informed decisions.
The post holder will deliver services that are co-produced with residents of Hammersmith and Fulham by actively encouraging involvement and ownership of support plans, but also taking a leadership role where appropriate. They will demonstrate confident and effective judgement about risk and accountability in decision-making.
The role holder will promote and sustain a learning culture and personal professional development through professional reflective supervision and guidance to less experienced Social Workers. They will take a key role in influencing and upskilling other social care staff around the implementation of Direct Payments by providing training to colleagues, encouraging Direct Payment 'champions' across the service, and they will be a key connection between the Council and the Direct Payment Support Service, to increase appropriate use of Direct Payments.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement Direct Payments strategies to support residents in Hammersmith and Fulham.
- Work closely with colleagues across social care to build capacity and confidence in the use of Direct Payments.
- Provide training and guidance to colleagues on the implementation of Direct Payments.
- Encourage and support the development of Direct Payment 'champions' across the service.
- Act as a key connection between the Council and the Direct Payment Support Service.
- Social Work England (SWE) registration.
- Experience of working in adult social care.
- Knowledge of Direct Payments and their implementation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
