Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Stroke Consultant Physician to join our team at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our stroke department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients with acute stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA).

The successful candidate will have a strong background in stroke medicine, with at least 5 years of clinical experience. You will be responsible for providing in-patient and out-patient care, participating in clinical activities such as audit and research, and contributing to the development of clinical quality and effectiveness in our stroke services.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide in-patient and out-patient care for patients with suspected stroke or TIA
  • Participate in clinical activities such as audit, research, and governance
  • Contribute to the development of clinical quality and effectiveness in our stroke services
  • Provide clinical advice for community stroke services as required
  • Contribute to the provision of a 24-hour acute stroke service delivering thrombolysis and advising on other specialist treatments

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • An appropriate higher medical qualification (MRCP or overseas equivalent)
  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
  • At least 5 years of clinical experience in stroke medicine
  • Experience demonstrating potential ability to cope with the demands of a DGH-based Consultant
