Job Overview

The Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Stroke Consultant Physician to join our team. As a key member of our stroke department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to patients with acute stroke needs.

As a Stroke Consultant Physician, you will be responsible for providing expert care to patients with stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA), as well as participating in clinical activities such as audit, research, and governance.

Main Duties
  • Provide in-patient and out-patient care for patients referred with suspected stroke or TIA
  • Participate in clinical and other activities such as audit, research, and governance to ensure ongoing high standards of patient care
  • Contribute to the provision of a 24-hour acute stroke service delivering thrombolysis and advising on other specialist treatments
  • Contribute to the consultant ward rounds at weekends and public holidays
  • Provide clinical advice for community stroke services as required
  • Provide continuing medical education and conduct undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as appropriate
