Detailed Job Description

This role is an exciting opportunity to work with Dorset HealthCare, a leading provider of community mental health services. As a Community Mental Health Practitioner, you will be working with individuals who require support and guidance to manage their mental health.

Main Responsibilities

As a Community Mental Health Practitioner, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Working with mental health patients to provide support and guidance to manage their mental health.
  • Running therapeutic groups, both individually and in group settings, to promote mental well-being.
  • Organizing and leading groups, including co-opting other staff members to assist.
  • Working with service users who may exhibit challenging behaviors, requiring adaptability and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrating excellent personal organizational skills to meet the needs of service users.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Positive interpersonal skills and a high level of self-awareness.
  • At least 12 months of experience working with mental health patients.
  • Knowledge and experience of running therapeutic groups.
  • Ability to work with service users with challenging behaviors.
  • Excellent personal organizational skills and adaptability.
  • Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English.

Additional Requirements

The successful candidate will also possess:

  • Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, adequate to enable the post holder to carry out the role effectively.
