About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Centre Design Engineer to join our Critical Infrastructure team at Sudlows. As a key member of our team, you will play a leading role in the design and delivery of data centre projects, working closely with clients and stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop data centre solutions that meet the needs of our clients, taking into account factors such as resilience, reliability, sustainability, and energy efficiency.
  • Manage the technical development of proposals and tender responses, working closely with the bid team to ensure that our solutions meet the requirements of our clients.
  • Produce and manage the production of specifications for data centre and critical environment projects, ensuring that they are accurate, complete, and meet the needs of our clients.
  • Undertake reviews of design drawings and specifications, providing feedback and comment as applicable.
  • Manage the distribution and sharing of design information with other departments, suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
  • Liaise with the procurement team to ensure that the necessary specifications and drawings are available to the required programme.
Requirements
  • A strong technical experience in data centre engineering projects, with a good understanding of data centre technologies, including critical LV switchgear arrangements, UPS systems, standby generation, critical cooling systems, fire suppression, control and monitoring systems.
  • Fully proficient with all office software, able to produce high-quality professional documents, presentations, and reports.
  • A good communicator, both in writing and on the telephone, with the ability to establish productive, professional relationships with key personnel both internally and externally.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and manage time, in order to meet tender return deadlines.
  • Achieved or working towards Chartered status with a related recognized body, such as CIBSE, IET, or IMechE.
