Facilities Assistant Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Facilities Assistant to join our team at a school in Sheffield. As a key member of our facilities team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of our school premises.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct daily inspections of the premises to identify and address any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
  • Oversee the cleaning and upkeep of the school buildings, including classrooms, offices, and common areas.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, or coordinate with external contractors as needed.
  • Manage security procedures, including locking and unlocking buildings, monitoring CCTV systems, and responding to alarms or security concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and health and safety inspections.
  • Assist with facilities-related projects and renovations as directed by school leadership.
  • Provide support during special events or emergencies, such as snow removal or building evacuations.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong practical skills in maintenance, repairs, and facilities management.
  • Excellent organisational abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving and a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of others.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to school environments.
  • A positive attitude and a genuine passion for contributing to the success of our school community.
