Role Overview

As a Senior Buyer at Currys plc, you will be responsible for leading the procurement of Print, Software, Storage, Office Supplies, and Imaging Essentials categories. This is a key role within the commercial team, requiring strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage supplier partnerships at various levels of seniority.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a sourcing strategy to bring customers the best ranges while minimizing NET cost of goods.
  • Negotiate product ranges, cost pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution, and stock availability with suppliers.
  • Work with suppliers to understand the future technology roadmap and plan ahead for changes in customer trends and demand.
  • Pricing the product range in line with agreed category CPI targets.
  • Collaborate with merchandising to ensure accurate forecasting and maximize sales and stock turn.
  • Provide regular performance reviews and support the professional and personal development of team members.
  • Jointly own trading strategies for the SIM Free category and work with the Pay Monthly category team to deliver their strategy and budgets.
Requirements
  • Substantial buying experience in a fast-paced FMCG/Fashion or Hard Goods retailer.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage supplier partnerships.
  • Customer champion with excellent commercial awareness and understanding of customer needs.
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Management/leadership experience of more than 1 direct report.
