Key Responsibilities

This is an exciting time to become part of our Pharmacy team at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. We are preparing for the transition to our new state-of-the-art hospital, which will enhance our ability to serve the community.

In light of this development and due to the advancement of some of our current pharmacists, we are on the lookout for dedicated, proactive, and enthusiastic pharmacists to provide exceptional pharmaceutical services across different wards and departments.

We welcome applications from registered pharmacists across all sectors, as well as current foundation year trainee pharmacists nearing the completion of their training.

Our pharmacy department is equipped with a Trust-wide Electronic Patient Record and EPMA system, and we have pioneered innovations in secure, automated medication storage and management.

Candidates must hold registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Job Duties

We are actively expanding our pharmacy services to adapt to the evolving landscape of integrated care within the Black Country. Our clinical services extend to a wide range of Primary Care and Community Therapies, including partnerships with GP practices. Our goal is to revolutionize pharmaceutical care delivery to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

We prioritize the well-being of our patients and community, and we are committed to providing high-quality pharmaceutical services across various clinical settings, including medical, surgical, and pediatric wards. In addition to core dispensary functions, we are transitioning towards a 7-day operational model.

Experience in a hospital setting focused on patient care is preferred, and a strong desire to leverage your skills to enhance patient care through effective medication management is essential. You will receive support from our in-house Education and Training team, as well as our trained technicians.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are vital; you should be capable of managing your workload, supervising others, and collaborating effectively within a team.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Pharmacy (Master's level, 4 years, or equivalent) plus 1 year of pre-registration training
  • Registered as a practicing or provisionally registered pharmacist with the GPhC
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

Desirable

  • Membership in a professional organization (e.g., RPS)

Experience

Essential

  • Completion of pre-registration training year and provisional registration granted

  • Previous experience in hospital pharmacy or equivalent
