Position: Legal Advisor - EMEA

Based: Haddenham, UK

The Legal Advisor for the EMEA region is an integral part of the EMEA Legal Team, providing comprehensive support to both the Consumer and Flavour Solutions (B2B) sectors, along with various enabling functions throughout the EMEA area.

This position reports directly to the EMEA Deputy General Counsel and collaborates closely on a daily basis, with occasional responsibilities to act on behalf of the DGC. The role involves extensive interaction with senior management, key account managers, and colleagues across Commercial, Marketing, Procurement, Finance, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and other departments.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluating, drafting, negotiating, and providing counsel on a diverse array of B2B supplier and customer agreements, including product development, supply, distribution, e-commerce contracts, and social media arrangements. Advising and partnering with senior management on legal and regulatory matters affecting ongoing business operations and future growth prospects, facilitating opportunity and risk assessments to support informed business decisions. Assisting the Procurement team with specific legal advice, contract evaluations, and negotiation support. Providing guidance on competition law, data privacy regulations, industry standards, and advertising and marketing compliance. Developing and implementing improvements to legal processes, policies, and procedures, along with delivering legal training sessions. Conducting research and drafting legal briefs and guidance documents. Effectively managing external legal counsel as directed by the DGC.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

LLB or equivalent qualification with a minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience. Current SRA Practising Certificate. Qualified at a reputable law firm or chambers. Preferred experience in the FMCG sector, particularly within a multinational context. Strong foundation in English contract law with extensive experience in drafting and negotiating B2B contracts governed by English law, including cross-border agreements. Familiarity with IP licensing principles and experience in negotiating and drafting related agreements. Understanding of UK Competition Law and data privacy frameworks, as well as knowledge of the UK Bribery Act, FCPA, and Modern Slavery Act. Experience with UK advertising and marketing regulations, particularly in the digital and e-commerce sectors. Proven ability to instruct and manage external legal counsel. Experience working within a cross-functional matrix organization. Capacity to adopt a pragmatic, risk-based approach, utilizing legal expertise to support the strategic goals of the organization. Ability to communicate legal concepts clearly and concisely to all levels of the organization. Strong communication skills with the ability to persuade and influence effectively. Self-motivated with the capability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure. Proficient negotiation skills.
