Assistant Psychologist

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Psychologist to join our Mental Health team at Derwentside IRC, a female Immigration Removal Centre near Consett, County Durham.
About the RoleThis is a brand new role, created due to the growth of the Psychology department. You will be working closely with the onsite Psychologist, offering vital support to your patients. As an Assistant Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing psychological assessment and interventions under the supervision of the qualified psychologist.
Key Responsibilities- Working closely with the mental health team, including Psychologist, Assistant Psychologist, Mental Health Lead, Nurses and Psychiatrist
- Support the psychological care of patients throughout their journey, from reception to release planning
- Provide psychological assessment and interventions under the supervision of the qualified psychologist
- Work with people with complex needs, which can present / lead to challenging situations or behaviours
- Work within the Assessment Care in Custody Teamwork (ACCT) process, and contribute towards the Challenge, Support and Intervention Plan (CSIP)
- Monitor and provide feedback on the patients' function and general mental health condition during the course of intervention, reporting and changes to the mental health team
- Carry out clinically related admin tasks, including audits, statistics and research projects
We offer a competitive salary up to £30,660 per annum, depending on experience.
