We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Psychologist to join our Mental Health team at Derwentside IRC, a female Immigration Removal Centre near Consett, County Durham.

This is a brand new role, created due to the growth of the Psychology department, offering a unique opportunity to make a real difference to patients and deliver outstanding care.

As an Assistant Psychologist, you will work closely with the onsite Psychologist and a close-knit mental health team, providing vital support to patients and contributing to the development of the Psychology department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychological assessment and interventions under the supervision of the qualified psychologist
  • Work with people with complex needs, which can present challenging situations or behaviours
  • Contribute to the Challenge, Support and Intervention Plan (CSIP) and monitor patient progress
  • Carry out clinically related admin tasks, including audits, statistics, and research projects

Requirements:

  • Hold a Degree in Psychology and have experience within a paid Assistant Psychologist role
  • Be experienced in facilitating patient therapeutic groups and delivering psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention in an evidence-based therapeutic model
