We are seeking an experienced Assistant Psychologist to join our Mental Health team at Derwentside IRC, a female Immigration Removal Centre near Consett, County Durham.

This is a brand new role, created due to the growth of the Psychology department, offering a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our patients.

As an Assistant Psychologist, you will work closely with the onsite Psychologist and a close-knit mental health team to provide psychological assessment and interventions under their supervision.

You will be responsible for supporting the psychological care of patients throughout their journey, from reception to release planning, and contributing to the development of the Assessment Care in Custody Teamwork (ACCT) process.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with the mental health team to provide psychological support and interventions
  • Conducting psychological assessments and developing treatment plans
  • Contributing to the development of the ACCT process and Challenge, Support and Intervention Plan (CSIP)
  • Monitoring and reporting on patient progress and mental health condition
  • Carrying out clinically related administrative tasks, including audits and statistics
