Creative Arts Facilitator - Summer Program
Working Hours: 08:30 - 17:30
Compensation: £559.17 weekly salary based on age, experience, and qualifications.
Accountable to: Camp Senior Team, Area Manager, and Central Office. Barracudas is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young individuals, expecting all staff to uphold this commitment.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ARTS FACILITATOR
- Establish and maintain an inviting Arts & Crafts space for children, ensuring a tidy work area and well-stocked resources.
- Adhere to policies and procedures to guarantee a fun and safe environment for children.
- Design and implement a diverse range of engaging and safe creative activities appropriate for various age groups.
- Provide safety instructions and equipment demonstrations, ensuring compliance.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members who may assist in your sessions.
- Take charge of the overall welfare and safeguarding of children.
- Meet the needs of children through active supervision and attention throughout the day, including during breaks and meals.
- Create prototypes for display purposes.
- Encourage maximum participation from children in group activities.
- Oversee the Discovery Squad skills builder, ensuring resources and equipment are utilized effectively according to the manual.
- In larger camps, collaborate with other Arts Facilitators, sharing responsibilities and communication.
- Ensure the safe use of all equipment provided for activities.
- Maintain cleanliness in site/base rooms and ensure all equipment is properly stored.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in Arts and Crafts is essential.
- Must be 18 years or older by the start of the contract.
- Eligibility to work in the UK is required.
- Provision of satisfactory professional or academic references is necessary.
- Must be enthusiastic, caring, organized, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate initiative.
- Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or possess an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
- Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
- Complete annual Online Training.
- Participate in an Induction Training Day prior to the first working season.
- Assist with the end-of-camp pack-up.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety obligations by following instructions and demonstrating a proactive approach to safety issues.
- Activities organized and delivered must be suitable for the children based on qualifications, skills, and knowledge.
- Encourage children to engage in new activities and ensure adherence to the activity timetable.
- Maintain awareness of children's whereabouts and promote safe behavior.
- Follow all camp systems, including registration, collection procedures, and Health and Safety guidelines while supporting colleagues.
- Assist the team with additional duties as required during the contracted period.
- Serve as a positive role model by promoting a healthy lifestyle and good hygiene practices.
- Report any Child Protection concerns to the Senior Team or a designated person.
- Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate children with additional needs or medical conditions.
- Depending on staff availability, deliver Skills Builder sessions as needed.
- All staff may be required to support swimming sessions; swimwear should be brought along.
