Role Overview: Sustainable Energy Strategy Manager

As the Sustainable Energy Strategy Manager at JLL, you will lead initiatives to guide our clients and stakeholders towards a sustainable future. By crafting and executing comprehensive action plans, you will be pivotal in assisting our clients in achieving net zero carbon targets, emphasizing energy efficiency, renewable energy integration, and emissions reduction initiatives. Your expertise will be vital in establishing realistic goals and engaging stakeholders in energy efficiency and carbon neutrality efforts. You will also remain informed about current frameworks and sustainability regulations to ensure compliance and facilitate progress.

Key Responsibilities

Net Zero Carbon Strategy
  • Formulating and implementing strategic action plans to assist clients in their transition to net zero carbon, focusing on energy efficiency, renewable energy integration, and emissions reduction initiatives.
  • Providing strategic guidance to clients in setting achievable objectives, considering factors such as baseline years and unique circumstances.
  • Keeping abreast of existing frameworks like SBTi, the World Green Building Council's Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment, and other pertinent sustainability regulations.
  • Prioritizing properties within portfolios based on energy performance, retrofit potential, tenant needs, and financial return on investment.
  • Building expertise in green electricity procurement principles, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and their implications for carbon accounting.
  • Engaging actively in industry groups and sustainability committees, attending conferences, and contributing to various industry initiatives.
  • Developing a thorough understanding of the GHG Protocol and its implications for greenhouse gas emissions management.
  • Overseeing energy audits, net zero audits, and other related activities in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Providing insights on property decarbonization, including the deployment of renewable energy sources and electric vehicle infrastructure.
Energy Efficiency and Emissions Reduction
  • Identifying energy improvements through interventions that eliminate external factors.
  • Utilizing industry benchmarks to evaluate and compare energy performance.
  • Conducting analyses to assess stranding risks in relation to net zero pathways.
  • Guiding clients in achieving and maintaining relevant certifications.
  • Performing comprehensive data quality checks on energy consumption data.
  • Reviewing existing reports to provide operational insights for optimizing energy efficiency.
  • Managing activities related to energy efficiency standards and compliance.
  • Researching innovative technologies to enhance energy efficiency.
Reporting
  • Managing data platforms to ensure seamless data flow and conducting high-level data validation.
  • Preparing energy reporting summaries for clients, including carbon emissions data.
  • Monitoring energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions, deploying systems to track progress.
  • Evaluating interventions to assess their effectiveness in achieving energy efficiency goals.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in sustainability, energy management, engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in net zero carbon strategy or sustainability.
  • Strong understanding of relevant frameworks and sustainability policies.
  • Knowledge of regulations related to energy efficiency and emissions reduction.
  • Familiarity with energy audits and efficiency certifications.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
Preferred:
  • Master's degree in sustainability or a related field.
  • Experience in the real estate or property management sector.
  • Professional certifications in relevant areas.
