Bariatric Clinical Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Bariatric Service at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. With the expansion plans and growth of this pioneering service, we are now looking to appoint a further Nurse Specialist post into the service. This will be an excellent opportunity for any individuals striving to become a Clinical Nurse Specialist and provide an opportunity to develop the necessary skills.
About the RoleYou will be key in providing a comprehensive, highly specialist service to patients undergoing weight management via bariatric surgery. You will be responsible for providing expert care, highly specialist advice, and support to patients undergoing bariatric surgery and their carers.
Key Responsibilities- Provide a nurse-led service for patients requiring follow-up care after surgical intervention.
- Facilitate all investigations for patients suspected of post-surgical complications.
- Facilitate the bariatric surgery telephone support service.
- Co-ordinate the bariatric surgery journey, acting as the key worker for patients under your care on the Bariatric pathway.
- Assess patients and their complex needs and those of their families and plan, implement, and evaluate specialist programs of care.
- Provide highly specialist emotional, psychological, and practical support and symptom control to patients and their families/carers throughout their bariatric surgery pathway.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Current NMC Nurse Adult registration.
- Evidence of practice development.
- Knowledge of bariatric specialty.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
