About the RoleYou will be key in providing a comprehensive, highly specialist service to patients undergoing weight management via bariatric surgery. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, managerial skills, and work well as part of a team. The aim of the post is to provide expert care, highly specialist advice, and support to patients undergoing bariatric surgery and their carers.
Key Responsibilities- Provide a nurse-led service for patients requiring follow-up care after surgical intervention.
- Facilitate all investigations for patients suspected of post-surgical complications.
- Facilitate the bariatric surgery telephone support service.
- Co-ordinate the bariatric surgery journey, acting as the key worker for patients under your care on the Bariatric pathway.
- Assess patients and their complex needs and those of their families and plan, implement, and evaluate specialist programs of care.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Current NMC Nurse Adult registration.
- Evidence of practice development.
- Knowledge of bariatric specialty.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
