Job Description

About the Role

Gates Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Maintenance Specialist to join our local Engineering team. As an innovation leader, we are looking for an ambitious, forward-thinking, and well-rounded individual to support our ongoing operational demands within our facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out all work to Company and Legislative Safety, Compliance, and Environmental procedures.
  • Be an effective communicator with all team members.
  • Responsible for the electrical maintenance (reactive, planned, and improvement) of our plant equipment and process machinery, including PLCs and Electrical Drive Systems.
  • Assisting in training of apprentices, including acting as mentor and defining best practices.

About You

We are looking for an individual with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Educated to City & Guild or SVQ Level 3 (Electrical) and be a time-served electrician.
  • Trained to 18th Edition Wiring Regulations would be advantageous.
  • Have held a similar role within an Industrial Environment post qualification.
  • Have a working basic understanding of ventilation, pneumatic, hydraulic, and steam service systems.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Detailed understanding of Siemens PLC logic, programming, fault diagnosis, and repair.
  • Previous work with Industrial Robotics.
  • Detailed knowledge of plant equipment safety and interlocking functions.
  • Demonstrable ability to follow written processes and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrable Reactive and Proactive attitude to equipment repair and lifecycle management.
  • Determination, drive, and willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Control and Electrical Drive systems.
  • Logical approach to fault finding and problem solving, with a focus on issue prevention.
  • Be able to understand and update Electrical Schematics and control documentation.
  • A working knowledge of PLCs is desirable, preferably Siemens or Beckhoff, training can also be provided.
  • Be conversant with Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, and Teams.
