Job Description:General Overview:
This role acts as a technical consultant for electrical issues and assesses contracted electrical services. The technician will engage in various maintenance projects and preventive upkeep tasks, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry work.
Key Responsibilities: Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with National Electrical Codes during installations. Deliver safe and cost-effective electrical services to the campus. Suggest the latest advancements in electrical tools, methods, and systems. Complete work orders based on priorities set by the immediate supervisor. May be required to assist at different campus locations. Independently manage emergency tasks during weekends and holidays. Collaborate with other trades, conduct safety inspections, respond to emergencies, manage supplies, and undertake additional duties as assigned. Conduct inspections, repairs, and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Identify necessary equipment, parts, and supplies for task completion. Ensure timely completion of work orders and maintain records in the computer maintenance management system. Must be present on campus during weather-related emergencies to restore operational conditions, which may require extended hours for snow and ice removal. Perform daily facility inspections and execute repairs or maintenance as required. Assist other trades (Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC) as directed by the facilities manager. Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficient in practical problem-solving using acquired knowledge and skills. Ability to stay alert and aware of surroundings. Maintain composure in high-pressure situations. Capable of prioritizing and completing multiple tasks with minimal oversight. Work independently and make sound decisions. Skilled in using hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment relevant to the trade. Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs regularly. Ability to work in confined or cramped spaces.
Required Qualifications: Valid Virginia driver's license with a good driving record. Experience in electrical repairs and installations. Proven experience as a technical advisor on electrical matters. Background in preventive maintenance for electrical systems and equipment. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with parking lot lighting systems. Certification in bucket truck operation. Journeyman Trade License. Training in residential wiring and commercial electrical applications.
