Position: Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Central London (4 days onsite / 1 day remote)

Salary: Up to £65,000 PA

A prominent construction engineering firm is in search of a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to become a vital part of their team on a permanent basis. This is an opportune moment to engage with a well-established organization that is on the brink of significant operational transformation.

Role Overview:
Reporting directly to the IT Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing essential infrastructure and networking operations. Your collaboration with managed service providers will be crucial in ensuring uninterrupted operations and maintaining business continuity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and manage both office and site networks in alignment with the business strategy.
  • Serve as an escalation point for the Service Desk Team.
  • Establish and configure Local Area Networks (LANs), including hardware setup and support.
  • Coordinate with third-party managed service providers for effective network and infrastructure management.
  • Facilitate business continuity through proactive incident management.
  • Oversee firewall operations and connectivity with Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
  • Manage network IP addressing and VPN configurations.
  • Implement rapid deployment solutions for site connectivity, including 4G routers.
  • Monitor network health and performance to ensure high availability and resilience.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and configuration records for infrastructure and software.
  • Collaborate with the Security Operations Centre (SOC) to enhance network security.
  • Assist with software licensing and upgrades.
  • Ensure operational efficiency in server rooms.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive business processes and documentation.
  • Support data privacy and security audits.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to team members.

Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in a management or team lead capacity.
  • Possession of one or more certifications such as CCNA, Microsoft Infrastructure/Azure certification, or ITIL foundation.
  • Strong expertise in Azure infrastructure management.
  • Experience with FortiGate Firewalls and Windows Operating Systems.
  • Proficient understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, etc.).
  • Familiarity with WAN, LAN, VPN, and wireless networking.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proactive and self-driven approach.
