Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced ecologist to join our team at Wardell Armstrong LLP, a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy with a strong presence in the UK.

About the Role:

This exciting opportunity is for a senior or principal ecologist to work in our Head Office in Stoke-on-Trent, where there is an established team of 12 ecologists. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and supporting the delivery of projects, preparing project proposals, and mentoring junior staff in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support the delivery of projects, ensuring timely and high-quality results;
  • Prepare project proposals, including budgeting and resource allocation;
  • Mentor junior staff in the field, providing guidance and support to ensure their success;
  • Lead protected species surveys, compiling and analyzing data to inform project decisions;
  • Design protected species mitigation and prepare mitigation licenses, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations;
  • Produce and contribute to complex technical reports, including Ecological Impact Assessments and Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments;
  • Develop project and financial management skills, ensuring effective project delivery and financial management;
  • Collaborate with colleagues to advance our understanding of ecological principles and their application in real-world scenarios.

Requirements:

  • Four or more continuous years of experience within ecological consultancy;
  • Hold a degree in ecology or a related discipline;
  • Hold, or be eligible for, 'associate member' status, or higher, of CIEEM;
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • A full UK driving license.
