About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Protection Officer to join our team at Royal Mail. As a key member of our Information Rights and Governance team, you will play a vital role in supporting our compliance with data protection and privacy laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and respond to individual rights, requests, enquiries, and complaints, including data subject access requests and other requests from customers, colleagues, and members of the public.
  • Investigate and assess data incident reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and guidance from the ICO.
  • Gather and review information in line with legislation, ensure appropriate reporting and escalation of data protection incidents, maintain accurate records, and provide advice and support to other functions in relation to data protection and privacy legislation.
  • Support the Privacy Manager in producing reporting and management information on casework and incident management, contributing to insights and KPIs as part of the Privacy Dashboard.

About You

To excel in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Excellent knowledge of data protection and privacy compliance issues and applicable privacy and information governance law and good practice.
  • Previous experience of working in a data protection, information rights or records and information management role.
  • Self-motivation, good time management, and a 'can do' attitude, focused on seeking solutions with the ability to work to strict statutory deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt in a changing business environment and to embrace and implement change.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills, vital for research and collation of data from stakeholders at all levels of Royal Mail Group.
