Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury Claims Coordinator

Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has emerged within our Legal Services and Claims Department. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our collaborative and supportive team. This role involves managing and processing Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury claims, with a strong emphasis on continuous learning and professional development.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive and enthusiastic individual, capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. You will thrive under pressure and demonstrate a flexible approach to your work.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively record and manage accurate data within the Claims Module of the Datix system.
- Conduct quality checks on claims records and update them as necessary.
- Assist the Legal Services Team in generating reports and fulfilling claim data requests.
- Oversee the retention and destruction of claims records, ensuring compliance with confidentiality standards.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of personal information in accordance with relevant data protection regulations.
- Manage incoming correspondence and prioritize tasks in consultation with your Line Manager.
- Handle the Legal Services email inbox, responding to inquiries or directing them to appropriate team members.
- Facilitate the disclosure of medical records for litigation purposes.
- Liaise with external solicitors and provide updates to the Head of Legal Services and Claims Officer.
- Implement a robust tracking system to ensure timely responses to inquiries.
- Identify and escalate issues to your Line Manager as needed.
- Manage the electronic calendar for the Head of Legal Services and Claims Officer, coordinating appointments effectively.
- Develop and maintain organized electronic and paper filing systems to ensure secure and accessible information.
- Coordinate meetings with clinicians and external panel solicitors.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and training presentations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and possess standard keyboard skills.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Strong educational background, including Math and English at GCSE level.
- Recognized qualification in administration or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in a public-facing role.
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection within the workplace.
- Knowledge of the Equality Act (2010) and Freedom of Information Act (2000).
Desirable:
- Experience in a healthcare or legal services environment.
- Familiarity with hospital systems and experience using Datix.
