About the Role

We are seeking a talented Junior Buyer to join our Buying Team at Yours Clothing. As a Junior Buyer, you will play a key role in implementing our sourcing and buying strategy for a given range of product, working closely with merchandisers and the garment tech team to plan and balance the range.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan a commercial range with the Buyer or Product Manager
  • Ensure that the supply base has the capability to meet requirements
  • Negotiate with suppliers for best price while maintaining product integrity and standards in production
  • Understand and contribute towards brand and product handwriting
  • Ensure that agreed levels of good, better, and best product are bought
  • Review competitor activity and regularly assess price architecture
  • Meet deadlines within the buying calendar and adhere to the critical path
  • Set clear performance standards to self and team members
  • Present the range in Trading, selection, sign-off, and review meetings
  • Understand profit and intake margin strategy, focusing on achieved target margin
  • Actively trade the department, review commitment against current sales performance, and set action plan accordingly
  • Work with the garment tech team to take joint responsibility for fit and quality
  • Regularly visit stores and work closely with retail colleagues
  • Work across the supply base/buying team to source and develop new product opportunities
  • Secure dates for product sign-off at appropriate points in the season
  • Oversee the critical path management for the department

About You

  • Passion for fashion, up to date on trends
  • Understanding of inclusive fashion and the challenges it brings
  • Experience of working with a range of suppliers, UK and overseas
  • Highly self-motivated and willing to learn
  • Proven ability to work well within a team and independently
  • Effective communicator and presenter
  • Proven record of good attendance and flexibility
  • Positive energy and enthusiasm to succeed
  • Ability to adapt to frequent change and a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to adopt a flexible approach when required and to think swiftly
  • Outstanding loyalty and commitment to the business
  • Relevant fashion/buying degree desirable
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Success at Assistant Buyer Level
  • Knowledge of building a profitable range
  • Microsoft Excel skills required
