About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fashion Buyer to join our team on a temporary, full-time basis. As a Fashion Buyer, you will be responsible for implementing the sourcing and buying strategy for our Lingerie product, owning and supporting the delivery of agreed target KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the buying team to ensure targets are identified and met
  • Ensure that the supply base has the capability to meet requirements
  • Negotiate with suppliers for best price while maintaining product integrity and standards in production
  • Understand and contribute towards brand and product handwriting
  • Ensure that agreed levels of good, better, and best product are bought
  • Review competitor activity and ensure customer/competitor benchmarking is completed
  • Understand profit and intake margin strategy, focusing on achieved margin targets
  • Continually drive newness and initiative, maximizing sales and minimizing risk
  • Challenge and manage underperformance where necessary
  • Work with garment tech to take joint responsibility for fit and quality
  • Regularly visit stores and work closely with retail colleagues
  • Work with the supply base/wider buying team to source and develop new product opportunities
  • Secure dates for product sign-off at appropriate points in the season
  • Oversee the critical path management for the department
  • Assist in driving marketing and trading activity
  • Ensure Competency Reviews are completed, and Personal Development plans are developed and kept live with the buying team
  • Work with the HR team to ensure that the teams are developed to the required skill levels
  • Cascade strategic objectives to the wider teams
  • Work alongside the buying teams to ensure that agreed looks and color palettes are developed and delivered with consistency
  • Develop and share best practice across the buying floor
  • Ensure that communication of issues and developments to the Director is timely, consistent, and in the appropriate format
  • Undertake project work when required
  • Deliver a profitable range in a timely manner
  • Develop a range that works visually alongside other products to agreed guidelines
  • Build and motivate a professional and respected team
  • Work within budget to increase sales while reducing markdown

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a passion for fashion, particularly in the non-standard sizing market. You should have good communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.

Requirements

  • A relevant qualification at degree or equivalent level
  • Experience of working within a buying team environment, within a multiple brand retailer preferable
  • Strong commercial awareness and minimum of 3 years at Buyer Level
  • Tangible knowledge of putting together a profitable range
  • Effective communicator, presenter, and team player
  • Ability to adopt a flexible approach when required and to think swiftly
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Confident working in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritize projects
  • Experience of Lingerie product category
