About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Fashion Buyer to join our team at Yours Clothing. As a Fashion Buyer, you will be responsible for implementing the sourcing and buying strategy for a given range of product, owning and supporting the delivery of agreed target KPIs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan a commercial range with the Buyer or Product Manager
  • Ensure that the supply base has the capability to meet requirements
  • Negotiate with suppliers for the best price while maintaining product integrity and standards in production
  • Understand and contribute towards brand and product handwriting
  • Ensure that agreed levels of good, better, and best product are bought
  • Review competitor activity and regularly assess price architecture
  • Meet deadlines within the buying calendar and adhere to the critical path
  • Set clear performance standards to self and team members
  • Present the range in Trading, selection, sign-off, and review meetings
  • Understand profit and intake margin strategy, focusing on achieved target margin
  • Actively trade the department, review commitment against current sales performance, and set an action plan accordingly
  • Work with the garment tech team to take joint responsibility for fit and quality
  • Regularly visit stores and work closely with retail colleagues
  • Work across the supply base and buying team to source and develop new product opportunities
  • Secure dates for product sign-off at appropriate points in the season
  • Oversee the critical path management for the department

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist in driving marketing and trading activity via e-commerce campaigns and POS
  • Ensure Competency Reviews are completed and Personal Development plans are developed and kept live with the buying team
  • Undertake project work when required
  • Develop and share best practice across the buying floor
  • Ensure that communication of issues and developments to the Buying Manager is timely, consistent, and in the appropriate format

Requirements

  • Possession of a fashion or buying degree is desirable
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Success at Assistant Buyer Level
  • Knowledge of building a profitable range
  • Microsoft Excel skills required
