About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fashion Buyer to join our team at Yours Clothing. As a Fashion Buyer, you will be responsible for implementing the sourcing and buying strategy for Footwear & Accessories product, owning and supporting the delivery of agreed target KPI's.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan a commercial range with the Buying Manager
  • Negotiate with suppliers for best price whilst maintaining product integrity and standards in production
  • Ensure that supply base has the capability to meet requirements
  • Understand and contribute towards brand and product handwriting
  • Ensure that agreed levels of good, better and best product are bought
  • Meet deadlines within the buying calendar and adhere to the critical path
  • Set clear performance standards to self and team members
  • Present the range in Trading, selection, sign off and review meetings
  • Actively trade the department, review commitment against current sales performance and set action plan accordingly
  • Work with Footwear & Accessories tech team to take joint responsibility for fit and quality
  • Work across supply base / buying team to source and develop new product opportunities
  • Secure dates for product sign-off at appropriate points in the season
  • Understand profit and intake margin strategy focussing on achieved target margin
  • Manage key administrative duties for the Buying team from product concept to finished bought product
  • Clearly and effectively communicate with all suppliers and internal departments in line with critical path
  • Manage order raising process as and when required with Buying Manager / Director approval
  • Manage sample process and organisation for the department in a timely fashion
  • Manage garment approval process to achieve a commercial, saleable product
  • Fulfil general ad hoc duties as required
  • Deputising for Buying Manager / Director
  • Management of the critical path demonstrating proactive problem solving that meets deadlines
  • Self-motivated clear understanding of market trends and customer profile and able to contribute knowledgeably to all meetings
Additional Accountabilities
  • Assist in driving marketing and trading activity for the department
  • Ensure personal development plan (PDP) is developed and kept live
  • Undertake project work when required
  • Develop and share best practise across the buying floor
  • Ensure the communication of issues are raised to the Buying Manager / Director in a timely, consistent and appropriate format
Requirements
  • A passion for fashion particularly in the nonstandard sizing market
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • The ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative
  • Good time management & organisational skills
  • A self-motivated and proactive approach to completing given tasks
  • A willingness to learn & the ability to work under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A commercial outlook and a keen business sense
  • A proven record of good attendance & flexibility
  • The ability to adapt to frequent change in a high-pressure environment
  • Commitment to behaving with integrity and professionalism at all times
  • A proven history of taking personal responsibility & accountability for actions, constantly striving to improve and exceed expectations and ensuring safety and quality are never compromised
  • A relevant qualification at degree or equivalent level
  • Experience of working within a Buying team environment, within a multiple brand retailer preferable
  • Strong commercial awareness and minimum of 2 years at Assistant Buyer Level
  • Tangible knowledge of putting together a profitable range
  • Effective communicator, presenter and team player
  • Ability to adopt a flexible approach when required and to think swiftly
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Confident working in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritise projects
  • Experience of Footwear & Accessories product categories
