Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Gynaecology Oncology team. This role involves collaboration with a diverse clinical and medical team, including Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialists, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, and Cancer Navigators, to provide exceptional nursing care for patients and their families facing cancer diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will deliver a comprehensive nursing service focused on holistic, patient-centered care for women undergoing evaluation for high-risk malignancies, as well as those receiving treatment and living beyond cancer. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-quality nursing support to patients and their families dealing with gynaecological cancers.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior staff within the Macmillan team, sharing expertise in effective patient management.
  • Acting as a clinical authority and resource for the multidisciplinary team, patients, and caregivers within the Gynaecology Oncology service.
  • Leading educational initiatives for patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, with guidance from senior Clinical Nurse Specialists.

The post holder will assist the Matron in executing strategies aimed at enhancing NHS cancer services, ensuring that all patients receive holistic needs assessments, personalized care plans, and treatment summaries. As part of a managed clinical service, the role may require cross-site work as necessary.
