About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at a school in Hook. As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a vital role in fostering a nurturing environment, supporting the emotional and mental well-being of individuals with mental health challenges.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will work closely with students, teachers, and school staff to implement strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to students with mental health needs, working closely with teachers and school staff to implement strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Be a calming presence during challenging situations, offering immediate support and helping students navigate difficult emotions.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, providing updates on students' progress and collaborating on strategies for continued support at home.
  • Work in classrooms supporting teachers and fellow teaching assistants.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counselling, or a related field.
  • Experience working with children in a mental health or educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Compassion and empathy for the well-being of children.
  • Experience working with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
