We are seeking a skilled Civil Litigation Solicitor to join our Litigation & Regulatory Services Team at East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for handling a diverse caseload of civil litigation work, primarily focusing on housing disrepair claims, injunction applications, possession claims, and closure applications. As a confident advocate, you will act in civil proceedings in the County Court and Magistrates Court. Additionally, you will provide training to council departments and serve as a legal adviser to committees as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Deal with a varied caseload of civil litigation work, including housing disrepair claims, injunction applications, possession claims, and closure applications.
- Act as a confident advocate in civil proceedings in the County Court and Magistrates Court.
- Provide training to council departments on civil litigation matters.
- Serve as a legal adviser to committees on occasion.
We are looking for a candidate with a current practising certificate and experience in civil litigation. A background in local government is desirable but not essential. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a can-do approach, and the ability to work effectively at all levels across the council.
