About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Physician to join our team in providing exceptional care to patients with stroke and general medical conditions. As a Consultant Physician in Acute Stroke Care, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, leading a multidisciplinary team, and contributing to the development of our stroke services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive acute stroke and stroke rehabilitation services, working closely with Consultant Colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
  • Diagnose and treat general medical inpatients, utilizing your expertise to deliver excellent patient outcomes.
  • Participate in the 1 in 11 Consultant general medical emergency on-call rota, ensuring seamless coverage for colleagues' annual leave and other authorized absences.
  • Clinical supervision of junior medical staff, adhering to local employment and human resource policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to teaching, examination, and accreditation duties, as well as continuing medical education activities, both locally and nationally.
About Our Department

Our department at St. Mary's Hospital is a 24-bedded mixed Hyper Acute, Acute, and Rehabilitation Unit, situated near the Emergency and Radiology Departments. We utilize Rapid AI and offer CT perfusion imaging, which enhances diagnostic confidence and accuracy in patients with hyperacute stroke. Our team includes a Nurse Consultant, Specialist Nurses, and Therapists, working together to provide exceptional patient care.
