Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic individual to join our organization in enhancing the quality of end-of-life care for patients. This role involves establishing a volunteer service aimed at providing support to patients nearing the end of their lives, as well as their families and caregivers.

Key Responsibilities

The primary focus of this position is to collaborate with the hospital's Palliative Care Team to oversee a committed group of volunteers who will offer essential companionship and assistance to patients during their final days. This initiative is crucial in ensuring that patients receive the emotional and social support they need.

Specific duties include:

  • Partnering with a specialized charity to recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers.
  • Coordinating and delivering training sessions for volunteers to ensure they are well-prepared for their roles.
  • Maintaining compliance with all mandatory training and health and safety regulations.
  • Conducting ongoing assessments to identify additional training needs and organizing relevant training sessions.
  • Managing administrative tasks related to volunteer meetings, including venue arrangements and record-keeping.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate the smooth operation of the service.
  • Participating in improvement groups to provide updates and contribute to the enhancement of end-of-life services.
  • Collaborating with the Palliative Care Team to ensure timely referrals of patients to the volunteer service.
