About the Role

The NHS England Finance and Planning Directorate is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lead - Parent Accounting to join our Corporate Accounting team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the NHS England parent account, particularly balance sheet reconciliation and reporting requirements.
  • Lead on the monthly review and analysis of the financial position with a view to ensuring the key accounting controls have operated effectively.
  • Develop and maintain parent account controls to ensure the probity and accuracy of financial reporting for the NHS England parent entity.
  • Liaise effectively with other key finance leaders within NHS England (Regional teams) to ensure key accounting processes are followed.
  • Financial assurance work of NHS England subsidiaries.
  • Ensure financial controls and team processes can effectively utilise the new finance system (ISFE2).

Requirements
  • Education to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
  • Subject matter expertise across a number of key areas relating to NHS Finance, financial controls and processes, and evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrable senior management experience including management of staff/functions.
  • Experience of delivering against competing priorities and deadlines while also directing the work of teams/individuals.
