Job Summary

The Head of Programmes will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of all First Give programmes. This will involve leading a team of Programme Managers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality programmes to our partner schools, and working closely with the Director to achieve our organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Programme Development and Delivery
    • Lead the Programmes Team to design, develop, and deliver outstanding programmes to our partner schools.
    • Oversee the planning, tracking, and evaluation of programme delivery, ensuring that we meet our ambitious targets and deadlines.
    • Manage the procurement and provision of programme resources, ensuring that they are of high quality and meet the needs of our partner schools.
    • Provide regular updates to the Director on programme delivery and performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Programme Improvement and Evaluation
    • Develop and implement a robust evaluation plan to ensure that we can measure the impact and efficiency of our programmes.
    • Collect and analyze data on programme delivery and impact, using this information to inform programme improvements and ensure that we are meeting our goals.
    • Provide impact data in a clear and accessible format, enabling the Director and other stakeholders to make informed decisions.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Lead the Programmes Team, providing coaching, mentoring, and support to ensure that they have the skills and resources needed to deliver high-quality programmes.
    • Manage complaints and performance issues, working to resolve these in a fair and timely manner.
    • Line manage the Programme Managers, providing development opportunities and ensuring that they are equipped to lead their teams effectively.
  • Youth Voice and Engagement
    • Work with the Director to develop a new approach to engaging young people in the development of our work, ensuring that their voices are heard and valued.
    • Create opportunities for young people to influence and engage with our programmes, ensuring that they are empowered to make a positive impact.
  • Safeguarding
    • Act as First Give's Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer, ensuring that we comply with our safeguarding procedures and processes, and working to create a culture of safeguarding within the organization.
Person Specification
  • Essential
    • Passionate about young people and their potential to drive social change.
    • Excellent project management skills, with experience of leading teams and managing multiple projects.
    • Proven experience of developing and delivering high-quality programmes, with a strong understanding of the secondary education sector.
    • Experience of working with remote and external stakeholders, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to build rapport with senior leaders in the education sector, with a strong understanding of the sector's needs and challenges.
    • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work well under pressure, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Desirable
    • Experience of working in a remote, decentralised team, with excellent remote management skills.
    • Experience of using Salesforce, with a strong understanding of its capabilities and limitations.
