About Ramsden Hall Academy
Ramsden Hall Academy is a specialized residential institution catering to boys aged 10 to 16 who possess an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. We accommodate up to 100 students from various regions, with transportation facilitated by Essex Local Authority. Each student is supported through a tailored EHCP, addressing a range of social and emotional challenges.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Night Support Worker to enhance our residential team within our esteemed academy, recognized for its Good Ofsted rating. Our residential program has achieved an Outstanding Ofsted status.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment while also demonstrating the ability to work independently in a dynamic and enjoyable setting. The residential team collaborates closely with the educational staff to deliver a comprehensive 24-hour curriculum that caters to both individual and collective needs. It is essential to foster caring, nurturing, and equitable relationships with the students, enabling them to build trust. A sense of humor is also a valuable asset.
Work Schedule
The working hours are structured from Monday to Wednesday, 30pm – 8.30am, and Thursday from 10.30pm – 9.15am, totaling a set number of hours per week during term time and inset days. There are no weekend, public holiday, or school holiday shifts required.
Key Responsibilities
This role is particularly suited for individuals seeking long weekends and school holidays free, making it ideal for those with school-aged children. A typical night shift involves coordinating with evening staff to assist in settling children, such as reading bedtime stories. Once the children are asleep, you will be available to comfort any who wake, while also performing light household tasks, including laundry, cleaning, and maintaining order. Administrative duties will include completing paperwork, updating records, and managing risk assessments and placement plans. In the morning, you will engage with the children to support their morning routines.
Teamwork and initiative are crucial in this role. The residential team aims to provide a balanced curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students. It is vital to establish positive and trusting relationships, and to be enthusiastic and supportive, particularly for those who may be struggling.
Additionally, participation in residential trips and driving duties may be required. Staff are responsible for developing and agreeing on placement plans, risk assessments, and activity schedules, and may also support school activities and training during the day.
