About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Forensic Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated team at Arnold Lodge. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to individuals with mental health needs within a secure setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' occupational performance and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Deliver a wide range of therapeutic interventions, both individually and in group settings, tailored to meet the specific needs of each patient.
  • Supervise and mentor OT students and qualified staff members, fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain meticulous written records and produce comprehensive reports documenting patient progress and treatment outcomes.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in occupational therapy assessment, treatment planning, implementation, and evaluation within a mental health setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in planning and facilitating diverse individual and group occupational therapy interventions across various environments.
  • Experience in supervising OT students as well as qualified and unqualified staff members.
  • Ability to maintain high-quality written records and produce clear, concise reports.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience working in a secure setting, such as a prison, young offenders institution, or forensic unit.
  • Involvement in research projects or clinical audits.
  • Experience in service development or leading clinical initiatives.

Knowledge and Understanding

  • Comprehensive knowledge of occupational therapy evidence-based practice and outcome measures.
  • In-depth understanding of treatment models and approaches used in mental health and personality disorder services.
  • Familiarity with patient-focused approaches and user/carer involvement initiatives.
  • Awareness of health and safety and clinical risk issues specific to forensic practice.
