Position Overview: The role of the Junior Electroplating Technician involves a variety of essential tasks aimed at supporting the electroplating process within the aviation sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of standard operating procedures, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals.
  • Engage in material handling activities, including the use of slings and jigs.
  • Execute surface preparation through grit blasting techniques.
  • Perform component disassembly, surface preparation, masking, and electroplating of parts requiring cadmium plating.
  • Conduct Alocrom processes as needed.
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain awareness of the company's environmental protocols and responsibilities.
  • Act in accordance with the COMAH emergency plan and related compliance requirements.
  • Keep an up-to-date Practical Experience Record (PER) book.
  • Possibly train other personnel in specific areas based on qualifications and experience.
  • Adhere to safety and environmental regulations as well as company policies in all tasks.

Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum education level of GCSE or equivalent.
  • Fluent communication skills in both written and spoken English.
  • Demonstrated experience in an engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Prior experience in the aviation industry is preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and administrative abilities; proficient in PC usage.
  • Willingness to work on a flexible shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, including weekends.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK without restrictions.
  • Comprehensive training will be provided, with mandatory training requirements.
  • Physical Requirements:
    - The role necessitates standing for extended periods with scheduled breaks.
    - Involves lifting heavy aircraft components.
